Kathryn Lewis has been coming to the sessions at HomeCo Plumpton Marketplace since June 2025, and in that time she hasn’t missed much. Across 19 sessions — all rated five out of five — she has steadily built confidence with technology that once felt out of reach.

A lot of what Kathryn has worked through centres on keeping her digital life tidy and safe. With Youngsters Umutcan Sahin and Maria del Carmen Landin Ledesma, she has tackled overflowing Gmail inboxes, learned to unsubscribe from spam, cleared cache files, and got on top of cloud backup settings she no longer wanted running in the background. She’s learned to manage app permissions, protect her device from potential threats, navigate Facebook, use a weather app, edit photos, and even get ChatGPT set up and running.
What makes Kathryn’s sessions stand out isn’t just what she learns — it’s what she gives back. She regularly leaves Youngsters with something to think about. “Be positive as long as you can, so life will surprise you,” she told Umutcan one August morning. To Maria, she’s offered versions of the same steady encouragement: be kind, be thankful, never give up.

Kathryn keeps showing up, keeps asking questions, and keeps reminding the people helping her that the exchange goes both ways.
